Sausage Gravy


This breakfast gravy can be prepared the night before, making it an easy morning meal for a busy schedule.  Serve over biscuits or whole-grain toast along with some fresh fruit and a side of potatoes.   It promises to satisfy the appetite of those who want a hearty breakfast.




Sausage Gravy

Prep Time : 10-15 minutes
Cook Time : 5 minutes


1 cup water

1/2 cup raw cashews

1/3 cup flour

1 Tbsp McKay’s Chicken-style Seas. Vegan –or see Chick-Style Seasoning to make your own

1 Tbsp nutritional yeast flakes

2 tsp low-sodium soy sauce

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp celery salt

1/4 tsp salt, opt.


2 cups hot water

1/2 pkg Gimme Lean Breakfast Sausage –or vegan sausage of your choice

  1. COMBINE first group of ingredients in blender and WHIZ until smooth. POUR into 2-qt. kettle.
  2. POUR additional hot water into blender, blending briefly to release any remaining sauce. ADD to kettle. COOK and STIR over medium heat until thickened.
  3. CRUMBLE sausage, ADD to sauce, and HEAT through.
  4. SERVE over biscuits or whole-grain toast.
